Generally, "No". The O2 Simulators ( or any other O2 Simulators) are for "off-road use only" in most states. O2 Simulators are for offroad use only. Do not use them on the street. They are intended only for use at the race track.
3. Will I pass emissions? In states where the emissions testing is simply plugging into the OBDII port under the dash, the vehicle will pass this type of test. HOWEVER, O2 Simulators are for "offroad use only". If you use them to pass emissions, it is at your own risk. If your state also requires a tailpipe test, your vehicle may or may not pass depending on the conditions and modifications to the motor. O2 Simulators are for offroad use only. Do not use them on the street. They are intended only for use at the race track.
4. Why do I need O2 Simulators?O2 Simulators let you delete your catalytic converters and use export pipes. Export pipes are simply "straight pipe" that replaces the catalytic converters. The straight pipe has significantly less backpressure than catalytic converters, which will give you more horsepower at the race track! O2 Simulators are for offroad use only. Do not use them on the street. They are intended only for use at the race track.
5. After installing the sims, I still have a CEL. What gives? If you had a CEL (check engine light) prior to installing the O2 simulators, you either need to clear the code with a scanner or drive the car a bit. The PCM (powertrain control module, computer) needs about a week to "learn" that the O2 simulators are OK. Simply disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery typically will not clear the code because the code is emissions related. If the code still exists after a week, use a scanner to clear the code and everything will be normal again.
6. How long does it last? What is the warranty? The O2 Simulators are designed and built to last longer than the life of your car. Click here for warranty information.
7. How hard is it to install?O2 Simulators come with the same OEM style factory plug as your oxygen sensors and are literally plug-and-play. Installation should not take more than five (5) minutes.
8. Does the PCM need to be reprogrammed? No. But you may need to use a scanner to clear any codes. Typically emission related codes will clear themselves out automatically with several days of normal driving.
9. Can 1994 and 1995 cars use O2 Simulators? No. These vehicles do not need O2 simulators because 94/95 vehicles do not have rear oxygen sensors. The O2 Simulators can only take the place of the rear oxygen sensors. The front oxygen sensors are used by the engine to measure and adjust the performance of the engine.
10. What sensor locations will the O2 Simulators work for?The O2 Simulators can only take the place of the rear oxygen sensors. The front oxygen sensors are used by the engine to measure and adjust the performance of the engine.
11. Can the O2 Simulators be used on my other OBDII cars?Yes, as long as your car has the same style 4-pin electrical connector. O2 Simulators are for offroad use only. Do not use them on the street. They are intended only for use at the race track.
